Technology
The Melcher-Dallas School District is a 1:1 laptop environment in Kindergarten through 12th grade. The school board and staff at Melcher-Dallas strongly believe it is important for students to have access and utilize technology to prepare them for college and employment after graduation. Our students are each issued a Chromebook. Students in grades Kindergarten through 6th have access to their Chromebook during the school day, while students in grades 6-12 are able to take their computer home. Most our system is cloud based, with students and teachers using Google Suite, including Google Classroom, for school work. Our infrastructure is completely new with Aruba wireless systems in both buildings, along with switches and fiber optics installed for a 400MB connection for internet using ICN.
Each elementary classroom is equipped with a Clevertouch mobile interactive flat-panel display for the students and teacher to learn with. Our teachers have found this is an excellent way to engage students in learning.
At the JH/HS building, each classroom has a 75" interactive flat-panel display mounted on the classroom wall. Teachers and students are able to cast their screen to interactive panel to share with the classroom. They can also work from the interactive panel itself as they present to the class or practice the skills being taught.
