Addison Wadle, a junior basketball player at Melcher-Dallas, had a love for basketball since elementary school. The sign up sheet to play 3rd grade basketball was where it all started.

“When I started in third grade everything felt natural, fun, and I decided it was something I would pursue,” Wadle said.

Wadle thinks the season is going well and hopes to make it past the third round of districts. It’s always interesting to hear about players' game rituals. Wadle drinks a celsius, eats a banana or granola bar, and listens to upbeat christian music, mixed with some Taylor Swift before she takes the court.

When asked about who has helped her along her journey in her basketball career, she had a long list. “My dad, Kelsey, my team, family, and the community,” Wadle said. Elle Ruffridge, a former guard at Missouri State, was a basketball player who Wadle looked up to.

Wadle felt like she came a long way from where she started, and agreed all the years of practice and hard work paid off.

It sure did pay off on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024 when the Melcher-Dallas girls basketball team won the Blue Grass Conference Championship against Mormon Trail, 46-41. The Melcher-Dallas girls beat Colo-Nesco 52-30 on Monday, Jan. 29, 2024.

The schedule for districts will be announced Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2024 or Thursday, Feb. 1, 2024.
