A great night of running for our Melcher-Dallas Saints at Central Decatur! Addi placed 15th and earned her second medal of the season! Hailey wasn’t too far behind in 23rd! It was the first race for our Junior High runners and Trista had a good race after a week of illness to place 19th and Austin was a great teammate who knows how to pace himself and he helped Levi who has only been practicing about a week make it through the whole 1.5 mile course without walking! These kids deserved a little ice cream 🍦 afterwards to celebrate! Great job, Saints! 🏃‍♀️⚜️🏃🏻‍♂️⚜️🏃🏻‍♂️⚜️🏃‍♀️⚜️🏃‍♀️⚜️❤️👏🏻

Melcher-Dallas science teacher Chelsea Thorsdarson spent part of her summer vacation seeing science in action. At the Neal Smith Wildlife Refuge, she had an externship with their education outreach program. She learned about using prairie strips as farmland conservation practice and developed curricula for the Refuge based on this project. She also worked on plant identification, seed collection, invasive plant management, and participated in wildlife surveys.
