Junior High students got to spend their morning at Great Escape in Des Moines. This was their reward for their hard work on their ISASP tests last spring. Great job students!
Due to Barb's recent retirement, any junior high or high school parent who is emailing about an absence to the office should email Laurie Ferguson.

Dear Melcher-Dallas Families,
This afternoon our school district learned of an anonymous, nationwide threat against schools that is being shared on social media outlets such as TikTok. The general threat toward all U.S. schools declares Friday, Dec. 17, as “American School Shooting Day.” The posts warn about the possibility of nationwide shootings or bomb threats associated with this day.
There have been no threats made toward central Iowa schools or the Melcher-Dallas School District. However, we have partnered with local law enforcement to investigate whether there are any local connections to these social media posts. Out of an abundance of caution, our schools will be in close contact with law enforcement throughout the day on Friday.
Please take this opportunity to talk with your children about the appropriate use of social media, and the seriousness and resulting consequences of making any kind of threat. As always, encourage your child to speak up if they see or hear something. “See something; say something,” is the rule. They should inform school officials or law enforcement so immediate action can be taken.
Student safety is our top concern, and we appreciate the support and partnership of our families.
Sincerely,
Scott Bridges
Superintendent
Melcher-Dallas CSD
Aloha! This Friday is a "Home" Basketball game at SEW against Twin Cedars. The cheerleaders would like everyone to know that the dress up theme is Hawaiian. Any 7-12th grade student who wants to ride the Pep Bus can do so if they sign up by noon on Friday. It is $3.00 to ride the bus. This is a great opportunity for kids to get out and show their Saint Pride. Last, if you do not have a "Beat TC" shirt and would like one, the Senior class has several left at $5.00 apiece. Please bring money to Mrs. Heaberlin if you want yours.
The Melcher-Dallas Community School District is looking for qualified individuals to coach the following sports:

Melcher-Dallas will dismiss at noon on Wednesday due to a severe weather event. There is a risk of rollover for high profile vehicles, such as buses, due to high winds with gusts 55-70 mph and possibly higher. Buses will be off the road before the winds arrive. There is also a high potential for power outages and wind damage. All PM activities are cancelled. Stay safe.
